12/16/13 Year-Round School is a Bad Idea Quote

My Writing So Far
I think we should not have year round school because I think kids need time off to go to summer camp and hang out with friends and family. I think year round school is a bad idea because kids and teachers need a break from textbooks, classes, waking up early, etc. Why I think this because studies show that test scores from year round schools and traditional schools are the same there is nothing different about it. I do not attended year round school but I think the experience would be hard and tiring and you would never get a break. Summer time helps kids to grow and mature. Year-round school also costs parents more because usually the older kids stay home and watch the younger siblings but they cant with year round school. Summer gives kids a time to recharge their brains and get ready for a fresh start for the upcoming year.

The Quotes off The Website
There are additional reasons for not changing the traditional school calendar.  Summer time allows children to grow and mature, which may ultimately give them a new outlook for the upcoming school year and provide them with the chance for a fresh start.

Year-round education may also cost parents more, since new day care arrangements might have to be made.  Parents have traditionally relied on teenage siblings or babysitters who were always available during the summer months and who were willing to accept less than minimum wage.  With year-round schooling, these teenagers will no longer be available, forcing parents to use high-cost day care professionals all the time.  For their parts, teenagers may also find that a summer job is out of reach with a year-round system, leaving them without spending money or money for college.  They are forced then to choose the alternative -- working during the school term -- which may lower grades overall.  Teachers who depend on summer employment outside the educational system to augment their income will also lose money.  Because it appears that saving money cannot be guaranteed, I do not believe schools should change to a year-round calendar.
